General terms and conditions of sale

Conditions of admission:

• Students must be in good standing with the French legislation concerning residence on French territory and be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with parental authorization. Any student who has obtained a visa to enter France must attend classes. A photocopy of the passport and visa is required upon arrival.

Financial conditions:

The participation in the courses given at the Alliance Française Aix-Marseille Provence requires the payment of the following fees

  • The annual registration fee and pedagogical material (including connection to our learning platform): 80 €. The registration fee remains the property of the Alliance Française

  • When changing levels, the new textbook will be charged to the student as well as the renewed access to the e-learning platform: 30€.

  • Courses must be paid for on the first day of the course at the latest. Any course started is due.

  • Bank charges for bank transfers are the responsibility of the student. Cheques from foreign banks and American Express cards are not accepted.

  • Holidays are not made up or refunded.

  • The Alliance is not charged for periods when it is closed (2 weeks for the end of the year holidays).

  • Class size does not exceed 17 students.

  • The minimum number of students required to open/keep a class is 6. Below this number the management reserves the right to reduce class hours (semi-private lessons) or to close the class.

Fees :

The Alliance Française Aix-Marseille Provence reserves the right to modify its prices at any time. The leaflets, brochures or other advertising material are therefore not contractual.

The prices indicated are prices including VAT in euros, taking into account the VAT applicable on the day of the order; any change in the rate may be reflected in the prices of the services. The Alliance Française accepts payment in cash, credit card, French checks or bank transfer.

Registration formalities :

Online, on site or by correspondence.

  • All non-beginner students must take a placement test before starting the course or provide a certificate of previous level.

  • For a registration of more than 3 months, the payment of the down-payment is necessary for the pre-registration and gives place to the delivery of a certificate of pre-registration (down-payment deducted at the end of the courses planned on the certificate). The registration for the courses will only be final once the totality of the courses has been paid.

  • Au Pair students must pay a 1500€ down-payment at registration. This down-payment will be deducted from the last term mentioned on the pre-registration certificate.

Postponement / Cancellation :

  • Before the beginning of the course: In case of cancellation or absence of definitive registration, the down-payment paid at the time of pre- registration as well as the accommodation search fees are not refundable, including in case of visa refusal. Your deposit is valid for one year from the date of payment. 

  • After the beginning of the course: Once the course has started, and in case of absence from one or more courses, no postponement or refund will be accepted for any reason. Any course started is due.

If the Alliance Française is forced to temporarily close its premises by government decree, all our courses will be held online. No cancellations or postponements will be allowed.

  • Regarding accommodation, any stay started is due.

  • All requests for cancellation or rescheduling of private lessons must be made in writing at least 24 hours (working days) before the scheduled start of the session. No refunds or rescheduling will be given for any private lessons cancelled after this time.

  • Postponement or cancellation of registration for the DELF/DALF exam: in case of major impossibility or withdrawal, a postponement to the next session or a cancellation are accepted, with justification presented at least 2 weeks before the exam (medical certificate, flight cancellation…). For any cancellation less than 2 weeks before the exam date, the exam will not be reimbursed nor postponed.

Modifications :

  • The administration reserves the right to slightly modify the rates, time dates or formulas of the courses without notice, to cancel a course where the number of students is insufficient 24 hours before the course.

Insurance :

  • Health, accident and liability insurance are mandatory and are the responsibility of the students.

Exclusion / Litigation:

  • If the student’s behavior is of a nature to harm the good progress of the services (courses, accommodation, cultural outings) or the reputation of the Alliance Française, the student will be immediately excluded without notice or reimbursement.

  • The present general conditions of service are subject to French law. In case of failure to reach an amicable settlement, any dispute will be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Marseille.
